shots

Who likes getting shots?
I don't and I wonder why we chose our holls destination (this is my third and last shot, though in a 3-month time I'll have a new dose).
Thank God we are not going to Indonesia or Africa! (more shots are required to go there).

old resolutions almost in new year

New Year's resolutions: bringing back memories reading some old posts

peekaboo

Here I am, after Christmas trying to survive after so much food, presents, family visits and so on.
Oh boy, we're supposed to do it again next week.
I can't wait, really...
[btw: hollidays countdown has just begun]

flower power

Flower barrettes are on, my dears. All girls (and old bats) are wearing them.
What's next? All the garden up there?! A few branches, may be?

words and comparisons

The end of the year is round the corner. I think of how many words I'll be saying per minute every time I meet people to celebrate...
If I type as quickly as I speak, I should even think of meeting my friends when I'm working hard... my productivity will definitely increase!
In the case I don't drink, of course. Otherwise, no production should be expected.

treasure hunt

If you could help me find my Christmas tree, it would me much appreciated. Oh, by the way, add my Christmas list to the search.
Definitely, my spirit isn't here, though I love this season.

chickened out

Double ups. Supposedly, I had a test (well, translators take courses on everything all the time). I mean, I had it. But as I chickened out, I left it for Feb.
A friend of mine called me to ask me why I texted her that I was not taking the text. My answer? Blame it on the quente day! (well, I knew that I didn't study as much as required to pass the test).
See? At least I was a self-conscious chicken girl.

almost ready to have tea?

My mum and my auntie are on their way to see how the painter's thing ended up in my flat!
I asked them to bring their pastry, right? (I'm in the mood for a nap myself instead of tea!).
I promise I'll be a nice girl... if they don't stay long! [otherwise, I´ll show them my super natural yawn].
I'm serious about it.

Friday I'm not in love

Considering the facts:
- flat painted by 2 painters who didn't do their job in the proper way.
- still many things to be cleaned and ordered.
- a lot of pending work for the weekend.
- plus [the same] long weekend will be spent doing things at home instead of sunbathing and meeting with friends.

Oh no, I'm certainly not in love today. Even watching my dog sleep like the Sleeping Beauty with a cushion under her head and a warm blanket covering her bad back makes me feel jealous of her princess life (did I mention that I get up at 7Am everyday?!). One Piña Colada for her and a double Diet Coke with cafeine on the rocks for me, pleeeease!
BTW: Did I mention that the weather is more than perfect to stroll along Puerto Madero? And am I supposed to set the Xmas tree on Monday? [Am I supposed to find it?] I love Xmas, but this December seems to be too short this year...

paradoja

finding the differences

(taken from here)
If someone in America asks you if you would like a pig in a blanket, it will save a lot of embarrassment if you know they are offering you a sausage roll.
Many of us go on holiday to the US confident we will have none of the language problems experienced in other countries.
OK, we all known they call petrol "gas" and they walk on the "sidewalk" rather than the pavement and they have "vacations" rather than holidays, trousers are called "pants" and so on.
But a look at the words Americans use for everyday food and drink items makes me wonder if a British-American phrase book would be essential after all.
For instance, they call an avocado an alligator pear, an aubergine an eggplant – and if you want mangetout, you'll have to ask for snow peas.
Fish fingers become fishsticks, prawns are shrimps, a beefburger is a hamburger, a gammon steak a ham steak, blueberries are huckleberries and corn is maize.
And can you guess what a rutabaga is? It's what we call a swede. (The American word is derived from the Swedish word rotabagge, which means turnip).
Meanwhile, if you want a sorbet, ask for a sherbet. How about some treacle... just ask for molasses. Gherkins are pickles, spring onions are known as scallions and if you want semi-skimmed milk, you'll have to ask for "low-fat" or "2 per cent".
It's just as difficult for children with ice lollies called popsicles, sweets called candy, candy floss known as cotton candy, biscuits called cookies and fairy cakes are cup cakes.
And how about this: If you want jam, you have to ask for jelly. And if you actually want jelly, you have to ask for "jello". Yes, it's all a trifle confusing...
Icing is known as frosting, an off-licence is called a liquor store, if you want something grilled, you must ask for it to be broiled, and in the US, food comes in cans, not tins.
And just in case that lot hasn't put you off going shopping in the States, take a look at these complete opposites: A catfish is a dogfish; chicory is known as endive and, surprise, surprise, endive is called chicory.
All this to worry about on top of getting the pronunciation and spelling right. Which reminds me of the American at a job interview in England who is asked to spell the word "coffee" – and is told the job is his if he gets just one letter correct.
The American ponders for a while before answering slowly: "K - A - W - P - H - Y".

nostalgic mood

Incancellabile (Laura Pausini)
A volte mi domando se,
Vivrei lo stesso senza te,
Se ti saprei dimenticare.
Ma passa un attimo e tu sei,
Sei tutto quello che vorrei
Incancellabile oramai!
Sembrava un'altra storia che,
Il tempo porta via con se,
Tu non lasciarmi mai!
Tu non lasciarmi!
E più mi manchi, più tu stai
Al centro dei pensieri miei
Tu non lasciarmi mai
Perché oramai sarai
Incancellabile.
Con la tua voce, l'allegria
Che dentro me non va più via
Come un tatuaggio sulla pelle.
Ti vedo dentro gli occhi suoi,
Ti cerco quando non ci sei
Sulle mie labbra sento la voglia
Che ho di te.
Così profondamente mio
Non ho mai avuto niente io
Tu non lasciarmi mai
Tu non lasciarmi.
E più ti guardo e più lo sai
Di te io m'innamorerei
Tu non lasciarmi mai
Tu non lasciarmi,
Non farlo mai perché.
Se guardo il cielo
Io sento che sarai
Incancellabile oramai oh no!
Tu non lasciarmi mai
Tu non lasciarmi.
Incancellabile tu sei
Nei miei respiri e i giorni miei
Tu non lasciarmi mai.
E si fa grande dentro me
Questo bisogno che ho di te
Tu non lasciarmi mai
Tu non lasciarmi
Tu non lasciarmi
Tu non lasciarmi
Oh no.
E più mi manchi e più tu sei
Al centro dei pensieri miei
Tu non lasciarmi mai
Tu non lasciarmi mai.
Tu non lasciarmi
Da sola senza te
Ora e per sempre
Resterai dentro
I miei occhi
Incancellabile.
